The Russian development product GeoStore is a software package for creating and administrating the archives RODE, STAGE1, TIF, KELMAN, LACEY, 408HD of the Exploration and Development data formats.
It is an auxiliary product to be used within the PetroVision Databank.
Application:
- Reading the data from input drives of various types;
- Encapsulating the data into the specified formats (creating the tape images);
- Output of the data to the archive drives for storage.
Capabilities:
- Integrated PostgreSQL / Oracle Database;
- Support of the tapes Exabyte, DAT, AIS, SLR, Mammoth, DLT, SDLT, IBM 3580, IBM 3590, IBM 3592, LTO 1-8, MHVTL, etc.;
- Operation with robotic tape libraries and stackers.
Interaction with Archived Data:
- Uploading directly to the PetroVision Databank;
- De-encapsulation;
- Delivery of the data in the original format to the chosen output drives.
Description
Seismic Data Storage
GeoStore encapsulates the data in one of the specified formats, and then archives it to a drive. The GeoStore tape media operation mode may be single-tape or several tapes on the fly, tape-by-tape, if the autoloader or stacker is used..
During archiving GeoStore uses a format recognition technique to define the archived data format. There is a functionality to define the SEG formats (SEG-Y, SEG-D). Depending on the data format, GeoStore is capable of extracting additional values of the attributes (from the SEG headers) and filling the database with them.
Arched Data Delivery
With the delivery function GeoStore reads the encapsulated data from the archive drives, de-encapsulates, and outputs it to a tape, or drive.
Encapsulated Data Quality Control
The quality control function checks the archived data for integrity by means of bit-by-bit comparison of them with the initial data from the input source.
There are the following QC steps GeoStore performs:
- Reads the data from the input source;
- Reads the equivalent data in a special encapsulated format from the archive source;
- De-encapsulates the data;
- Performs bit-by-bit comparison.
Encapsulated Archived Data Revision
GeoStore reads the encapsulated data from an archive and de-encapsulates it. Then, in order to define the data format the format recognition technique is used. Depending on the data format definition, GeoStore extracts certain attribute values from the data.
Advantages
- GeoStore transfers the seismic data from magnetic tapes and administrates archives of the specified data formats;
- GeoStore supports the own database, filling it with the seismic data attributes (from the SEG data headers);
- GeoStore performs the record quality control in order to check the archived and original data;
- GeoStore is a completely Russian development product within the PetroVision Databank. It is registered in the Native Software Register of the Russian Federation Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media;
- GeoStore is well-integrated to the PetroVision Data Administration System. The data, written in GeoStore, is ready to be uploaded to the PetroVision database.
Support
The software product is tested at each life cycle stage: from the initial idea implementation to its introduction, but support does not stop at this stage. Another advantage is a permanent communication with the Technical Support Team, ready to clarify the situation and timely solve the issues occurred, as well as to pass the information to the developers in order to make modifications.
